Flour mites?

Aberdeen, MD

They look similar to flour mites I've seen online...

There can be up to a dozen on my window sills, inside. They seem to be disoriented and many are on their backs or already dead. They fall on the carpet and die there as well.

Anyone know what they are and if so, how do I get rid of them??

PS: The window where I shot these images remains closed all the time, so they may be coming through the cracks around the window.

I forgot to mention - they're about as long as a grain of rice.

These are beetles, but I cannot be certain as to their identity. The last one looks a bit like a black carpet beetle, so be on the lookout for critters that look like this:

Thank you, Flap. I'll have to inspect the carpet under the window.

Are they harmful to humans? I have a 3 year old who rolls around playing on the floor.

There have been reports of people developing allergic reactions to the hairs of larvae in other genera of dermestid beetles, but this appears to require long-term exposure to heavy infestations.
