A friend of mine had this guy land on her stroller here in Abbotsford, BC Canada. I've never seen anything like it and can't find anything like it. It's was big (over an inch long).
Anyone know what this is?!

Looks to be a digger wasp, Sphecius species, commonly called a Cicada killer wasp.
The female is equipped with a stinger, but I can not tell from the picture. Being in BC, I think it is Sphecius grandis.

This is an elm sawfly, it is in an entirely different suborder (Symphyta) than wasps, hornets, etc.
