Hi folks,
I've lived in Hawaii for about 11 years, and never saw a centipede until one bit me in the middle of the night a few weeks ago. It was a 5 inch long Vietnamese centipede, and it gave me two puncture marks full of venom on my shoulder- waking me from a deep sleep.
Anyways, it got away before I could catch it, so needless to say, I slept in the living room. I set off bug bombs in the bedroom twice and found nothing dead on either occasion. Not even an ant. I know the bombs work cause I've seen the results from a friends house- things came out of the woodwork, for real. Even a centipede.
Okay, so that was 3 weeks ago. The swelling has gone away, finally, from where I was envenomed but I'm still sleeping in the living room cause I'm terrified. The sting was so painful, and it lasted about 4 days before just being an itchy, swollen mound.
Last night I found this baby going across my kitchen floor, and thought, "Oh my God, it had BABIES". Can someone verify that this is a centipede in the photo?
Thanks, cause now I'm really trippin out...It's like no place is safe now in this house.
Is this a baby centipede? Perhaps millipede?
Images are none too clear, but this appears to be a harmless millipede (two pair of legs per body segment)...
