In the fall of 2013 my tree flowered and put out lots of seeds. I collected many. Wintered them over in my ref. Planted them in a pot outdoors Spring 2014. Nothing ever came up. Left pot outdoors for the winter. We had a cold winter with little snow cover. Now I have 18+ seedlings emerging. Is it normal for the seeds to take that long? Or was the cold outside the critical factor? Will probably try it again this fall if I can and need advice on the correct procedure. Thanks. Gene
Purple Bloom Maple question
Some seeds need a double stratification, a warm spell followed by a cold spell and back to warm again before they germinate. Your tree species is probably one of those that need special stratifying requirements.
Thanks I did not know that some seeds do that. Gene
Luckily you didn't give up. My hat's off to yah.
