Hi! I have a cutting of a velvet leaf philodendron I had recently rooted in some potting soil. It's leaves started turning orange so I dug it out and found the new roots to be black/brown and hard. I cut them off with a clean knife and stuck the cutting in a glass of water. Is this a lost cause? Was I wrong to assume the roots were the problem? It's the leftmost plant in the photo.
