weird white insect on my study desk, about 1 millimetre long. is this harmful? should I kill all on sight?

Cannot see enough detail to hazard an identification - it does not appear to be a springtail, booklouse, or mite, the three most likely suspects when something this small is encountered - i do not believe that it is anything to worry about...

I think it's a lonesome mealybug, looking for a plant.
