Hi! I just added a blue birdbath to my yard & want to plant pink & lavender below it.
I bought pink petunias but now I'm wondering if they can handle all the extra water
they will surely get each time bath is filled. I'm in zone 8B. Open for any suggestions.
Thanks!
Which plants to put under birdbath?
I think petunias would be fine with a regular watering but lavender likely wouldn't be.
Some varieties of salvia have paler purple flowers on them that would work. They are pretty hardy so can handle some of the extra water. Lavender definitely won't. They like to be more dry.
I also think catmint would work. Very hard to kill it. I have it in 3 different spots, both shade and sun and it's thriving. Just keep trying to grow the colors you want. Eventually you will get one to grow for you. :~)
