These trees are all around wet areas I've hiked this week. I know they are something familiar, and that I've just found them in spring bloom. What do I have here?
My guess is something invasive.

My guess is one of your local Willows (Salix sp.), which you probably have more than a few native ones.
Ah yes, willows are everywhere where it's wet around here. What do you call the green thingies I found on the branches? Are they going to become leaves or are they reproductive parts?
Those are reproductive parts.
Flowering parts of Salix sp. are called catkins, I think.
