Hello. I've decided to try my hand at strawberries this year. I ordered 2nd year bare root strawberries online. I planted them today and they look good, but some really woke up in the dark box and grew very long stems in search of light. Some are 10in. Some are standing up but definitely not hardy like the shorter newer growth, some are not strong enough and falling over, and none have more than the couple of leaves at the top of the stem. Should I clip these stems? Thanks.
Should I trim my bare root strawberries?
The leaves are needed for photosynthesis, until they're replaced with healthy, compact leaves. It may not make much difference, but I'd leave them.
