CLOSED: Identify these please

San Francisco, CA

Last 9 months these have been popping up in our apartment more and more. They're not harmful, nor do they go in the bed or on clothes. They mostly like to hide in dark corners. I think they have nests inside the floor (where the floor meets the wall, there are tiny holes all around).

Also, how do I get rid of them? I've sprayed them and the holes with all around cleaning spray, which kills them. But they never seem to run out. Are they termites?

These are nuisance pests in the order Psocodea (formerly Psocoptera) known as booklice that feed mainly on mold spores and the like. They need humid conditions in order to thrive, so lowering indoor humidity levels as much as practical and eliminating unnecessary sources of moisture will help keep their numbers down. They do not make holes nor do they have 'nests.'

Yup, we had these when we moved into our new house, not a lot of them, but I would see them occasionally. We then got Central Air installed and they vanished, guess they didn't like that we got rid of their humidity inside...
