Sunflower seedlings lower leaves browning at tips

New York City, NY

Hi,
This is my first time trying to grow anything. I started growing mammoth and a 'mix' of different sunflowers about four weeks ago indoors. They started to get leggy, so I staked them and added artificial light. Now, mostly the lower leaves are starting to brown and die starting from the tips in. I'm also seeing yellowing of the leaves from inside to out. I think I may be over watering, but not sure. I water once a day till they are soaking and never let them dry out. I also think the light may be too close. I have two 75 watt grow bulbs about 1 1/2 feet above the plant tops. I would appreciate any help you can give me. I plan to transplant outdoors.

Thanks,
Hazel

Sunflowers. Not nearly enough light. Fast growers need LOTS of rootroom, so those leaves that are brown are pinched toes and dry. Yellowing would be too much water. Need a breeze on them as well, notsure if they'll transplant well, mine do better ground sown, Brown can also be too much nitrogen, but xtra watering should resolve that issue.
