Spring Plant Swap 2015 Food PotLuck Discussion

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

OK! Here is the latest--like 2 weeks ago--taken by Donner.
We were at Casa Mias chowing down Crab cakes.

This is ME.....April, 2015.

Who will be next? C'mon! Don't be shy.....
Let us really get to "meet" each other.
G.

Frederick, MD

Looking at both pics, it would seem as if they were taken the same day ! :)

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

...I have newer glasses.......................:o)

Frederick, MD

This is me. :)

Ric is doing a pasta salad loaded with olives and feta cheese. Always room for more than one though.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Oh! I forgot that Ric's greek salad has all those olives also! Hmm. Maybe I'll do something with pesto instead. Or bring the mac & cheese I just put into the freezer (made a double batch).

I just found out Joyanna has a party invitation from one of her good friends at school -- on the day of the swap! That's going to be a tough choice, especially as she knows Chantell's granddaughters are coming. If she comes, there will definitely be cupcakes.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

CAM---ooops! i thought you were a woman.....hard to say from posts....
just a gut feeling...

G.

Frederick, MD

Haha... I would be one hard-looking woman. But no woman on earth would understand men like I do. LOL

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

Whatever you decide is fine, critter; I'll put you down for ? for now ; - )

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Joyanna chose her friend's party, but not without a lot of hesitation and wishing she could do both!

Put me down for mac 'n cheese, please. The real kind, not blue box! I can heat it ahead of time and put it in one of those insulated carriers. :-)

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

More "ME" pictures...please!

Back to haves---MY friend, Tammy, is asking again if anyone is interested
in the variegated Miscanthus?
Please post soon if you are--as she will have to dig up her clumps.

Thanks, Gita

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

I'll take Miscanthus, thanks Tammy

I forget who took this, but it was at Ric and Holly's place

Nice pic, Sally. :)

That gardening hat puts mine to shame. One reason my ex is my ex is that she used to laugh at me in mine. Hahahaha Only part of that sentence is true, I'll let everyone figure out which part that is. ;)

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

OK Gita, here is an "US" picture. (Ecnalg/Pat & Greenthumb99/David) From swap at Sally's.

To any newbies out there who might be wondering about it, please know that sharing photos is strictly optional. The only "mandatory" part of the swap is showing up!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Sorry if my urging people to post a picture of oneself came across
as a "must".....Not meant that way at all. Heavens, NO!!!!
I just like to see what people I am communicating look like.

There's a lot to "see" of a person from a picture. Don't you think?
I do........ Gita

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

To whomever felt "threatened" or "offended"

I am posting my apologies to those that took all this picture-posting
as a "threat". It was not meant to be anything like it....
Just a "getting to know you" kind of a thing. Just for fun....

Please DO come to the swap--and i will apologize to you in person if
I know who took this in a way it was not meant at all.

***I do not have pictures of anyone I would post! Honest!***

If you are new to this crazy bunch--I hope you "get" how comfortable we all are
with each other, how we can kid around, and how it is all a fun 'give and take'.
You (whoever you are) have already been welcomed here with open arms.
Lots of sharing and giving is what we all do here.

Again--I am sorry this was taken in the wrong context by anyone.

I do not see a fruit salad listed so I will bring some with some vanilla yogurt on the side for a topping, maybe some brown sugar to sprinkle over. Sound good?

Frederick, MD

In a word, Catbird.... YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

Ok, so it was a long word. :)

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Robin--

NO other yogurt goes as well with fruit than the 32oz. size "Dannon Light
Vanilla Yogurt."
When one dips a cantelope, a strawberry, watermelon or any other fruit--
you will be in heaven. It transforms the taste to near decadent.

Many people can vouch for this.....Gita

Manassas, VA

I don't have any plants....but I am going to bring a pasta primavera salad
Terry

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

Caution: You will have plants when you leave. ;-)

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Sounds great Terry!

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

I'm the one bringing fruit salad. It's going to be marinated in a bit of sugar and Grand Marnier. I don't know if yogurt would go with it, but feel free to bring it if you'd like!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

No,,,no! I don't need it--just thought if you were bringing yogurt--
the one I mentioned goes very well with fresh fruit,

Odenton, MD(Zone 7b)

Ahh, I did not see that SSG had posted fruit salad, we don't need two and hers does sound yummy. I will figure out something else to tempt you'als taste buds.

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Catbird, that's too funny, I read your initial comment and thought you said that you *saw* fruit salad listed and you just wanted to bring yogurt as a side to go along with it. I really need to read more carefully.

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

With our numbers this year, a second fruit salad might not be a bad thing. I tend to misread things too, with rather amusing results at times.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I was thinking the same thing about the greek pasta salad that Ric is making a second pasta salad might not be a bad thing either.

annapolis, MD(Zone 7b)

I really enjoyed the ice cold slices of papaya and asst grapes some one brought. ate a few each time i passed by.

I hope to bring Kimchee, pickled carrots and Smoky Thai Kraut.. Also whatever the bread du jour is at Great Harvest..

Odenton, MD(Zone 7b)

Okay, I will go back to fruit salad with the yogurt. It went over well at my daughters' bridal shower. Folks even took the leftovers home.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

There's always room for a 2nd fruit salad, pasta salad, etc... we all have such different ideas with putting together things like that! I "punted" and switched to mac 'n cheese mostly bec. I already have it made (it freezes well)... looks like I'm in Pittsburgh until Tuesday, then sorting caladium bulbs and digging various bits of things, so I'm sticking with "easy." :-)

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

Sorry for the fruit salad confusion - I wasn't sure you had decided what to bring, ssg - but I absolutely agree that we can't have too many fruit salads or pasta salads!

Smyrna, DE(Zone 7a)

This is me and my husband, Cliff. Our wee doggie, Peanut, is, alas, now on another astral plane.

Thanks for posting the photos, jeeanniejayne. I'll bet you have some wonderful memories of that darling Peanut. So glad you and Cliff are coming.

Manassas, VA

Going home with plants!!!!!! That sounds so delicious :)

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Last minute request! I think we may need another bag of ice. I don't think my cooler is big enough to handle a large bag.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

I can bring some ice I should have room for a cooler.
