Thanks for the info, Critter and ecnalg!
She lives in D.C. The shrub is in a fairly well-protected area, so that probably helps.
I've also heard that Camellias are iffy in our area. I know someone who tried to over-winter Camellias several years in a row without success.

Your Neck of the Woods 2015 Part 3
I have written a little travelog with pictures of our trip. Yesterday I posted pic from Leu Gardens.
It takes so long to up load pics on this server so I was thinking that instead of copying everything over here I would just post a link and if you have the time or interest you can follow it to my postings. I know you all are busy with your Spring gardens and probably don't have much extra time. Ric and I are both having a great time here but we both really miss our Garden.
So here is the link you shouldn't have any trouble following it but if you do just let me know.

Did anyone go to the Washington Daffodil Show was last weekend?

No, and I missed the National Arboretum Sale too last weekend. I went to the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy Native Plant Sale on Saturday that was in Leesburg last Saturday, and I think the Arboretum Sale continued on Sunday, but I had so much stuff to plant that I skipped it.
Aspenhill, the National Arboretum sale is this weekend! And I will definitely be there. :)
The National Arboretum show and sale is this weekend , April 24 and 25.

The list of vendors is pretty good!

Yay! I must have put it on my calendar wrong. I was putting all the local sales on my Outlook calendar one night about a month ago. I was really tired at the time - I wonder how many others I screwed up, hmmmm will have to go back and double check them all now LOL.
What can you say? 12 different viburnums offered...
Terri, if you decide to go on Sunday, LMK. :-) SSG, let us know which day you're going.
The National Arboretum Sale is tomorrow (Friday) and Sat not Sunday.

oops, I missed that about the dates! Saturday is our anniversary, and we have other plans... and tomorrow I'm helping Joyanna's class plant seeds (yippee!)... so no arboretum sale for me this year.
Ah, well. I bought a little 'Mary' magnolia at Lowe's this afternoon along with half a dozen $4 azaleas and some bargains from the $1 shelf (6 quart-sized creeping phlox that are battered but alive, and 10 'Columbine' violas in 4 inch pots)... so that makes me feel better! LOL
Jill, what a great deal! Your local Lowes has the best sales.
BRRRRRRRR
Close to freezing temps in the more Northern suburbs....areas of frost...
Lets all combine our power-minds and make this the LAST of cold weather...
UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.......
G.
So I am sitting on the beach Wednesday enjoying myself and thinking why am I here? I should be at home working in my gardens. I am missing the spring blooms. It's really nice here but......
Then I get a call from home and they tell me that they are calling for frost warnings temps in the low 30's overnight. Oh yes, that is why I am here........
Hehehe, sometimes all it takes is a phone call. Enjoy the warmth.
ha Holly- just watch your step you look close to falling off that pillar
ROFLOL
Hope everyone made it through this morning's chill with all their plants intact. Here it bottomed out at 38 degrees and was up to 44 at 6:30, so everything should be fine. After it warms up a bit I'll go out and remove the sheet off the large Boston Fern that had moved outside for the season, and off some flats of tender seedlings I had moved out in the past week.
Greenthumb, we only got down to 40. The only things I brought in are annuals purchased at the arboretum sale yesterday. I covered up the lettuce seedlings, partly to protect them, but also to keep the squirrels/cats out. Some creature has been digging up the vinyl plant markers!
Our very narrow patio is filling up. Ric and I went to another nursery today and found 3 of the plants that were on our wish list, Black Coral EE, Creole Queen Hibiscus, Tri-colored Stromneti. I am just about done picking up plants but I do have somewhere I am going tomorrow where I will pick up a few already ordered plants.
Jeff--this is for you--and others who declared my "Yaku Prince" Rhodo dead.
Believe it or not--I see new buds forming on the lower stems and also
on some of the stem tips. Glad i did NOT listen to you --to just pull it up
because it is a GONNER!
It looks like it will prove you all wrong. I hope so!!!
I have patience...it may not bloom till next year--but...so what?
I think it is in a perfect location in VERY well amended soil.
G.
I covered my seedlings during the last 3-4 nights, but I'm getting so tired of it!
How cold is too cold for them? It's not supposed to go below 40 tonight.
The forecast where I live said lows of 41.
Too close for comfort....I brought my trays in again. They are lined up on the bar
just inside the basement door.
My 2 Brugs and the Tropical Hibiscus--ALL of them just coming out of dormancy--
are in the shed.
Lets hope all this ends soon...... Gita
WAAAH
Weekend went too fast! I don't want to get up and go to work tomorrow! I usually have pm shift and can relax Monday morning, but this week I have to do AM.
((~~hissy fit~~))
WAAH, Oh how I remember those days. Don't worry Sally one of these days you will be "old" and not have to go to work any more. Wait a minute.........did I get old. LOL
Holly- HAHA no! You're not old.
My work anniversary date is in early April so I guess when the day comes, it'll be one sweet spring.
Yes, It will.
OK PEOPLE LET'S GET THOSE CLOTHES OFF!
https://allnudist.wordpress.com/2015/04/26/world-naked-gardening-day-may-2-2015/
Maybe one of these years it will coincide with the swap!
WMPL (wet my pants laughing)
Oh carp! hahahaha.
I've always meant to write an article about skin protection, to run on WNGD
Of course, we carry so many plants around at our swaps, we might not notice!
There is a World Naked Bike Ride too- one pic show them with a banner 'Stop Indecent Exposure to Automotive Emissions" --trying to find a link to share with my son the cycling fan
Great slogan, Sally! And the path along the C&O Canal is nice and shady, so no worries about skin protection.
There's a local gathering of this contingent - they call it The Infield at the Kentucky Derby...
Nothing on but a smile and an elaborate Derby hat?
And diving and sliding in the inevitable mud puddles - though this year is supposed to be sunny and nice. Then it's Port-O-Let hurdles....
Does it count if I'm just in my basement potting up seedlings? There are construction guys behind my house now, instead of a cornfield...
