Just returned from Spain, about to stash luggage in attic when I see this friend. I want to just take him out to garden but would feel better knowing he's harmless and didn't make the very long trip from Spain!!
Help identifying this spider on luggage
This looks like a Wolf Spider to me. There are various species so maybe someone else will respond and confirm, but I don't think it came from Spain as they are abundant in Pennsylvania.
This appears to be a harmless native American fishing spider in the genus Dolomedes - see http://www.carolinanature.com/spiders/dolomedestenebrosus.html for some examples.
Hello! Although it sort of resembles a wolf spider, it is definitely a fishing spider. Feel free to let it go!
