Southern California insect in Palm Springs. Unknown.
This a beetle in the family Scarabaeidae, but I can't say much more from these images - are the dark areas on its back its normal color, or is it some foreign substance adhering to it?
Those colors are as the bug was. I have had many of them in the yard. Some get fished out of the pool. Poor buggers. I was afraid they were a type of tick. Thank you, very much, for taking time to answer my query. Have a wonderful weekend. :)
They very small. That's why I thought tick. About the size of a pencil eraser tip.
