I have several small fruit trees, some stone fruit and some not. Should I prune them now or wait until the buds start to open. I want to do this right.
Is it too early to prune fruit trees?
You might want to check out youbetyourgarden.org. I've heard Mike McGrath's podcasts addressing this subject. His radio show/podcasts come out of the Philly area. Basically, prune in the winter while the tree is dormant and then thin fruits as needed to get larger fruits. Some fruit trees need more pruning than others.
Thanks, Cindy. I'll check it out.
