Water insects??? Central qld aus

Have tried finding what these are but i have no idea
They were in my swimming pool and hop when you take them out of water/if theres not enough
Didnt bite and have a kind of clear abdomen????
Very intrigued they are so cute

Can't tell you the species, but similar creatures are called "water boatmen" in the US. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corixidae

The ones with the real nasty nip are more likely to be backswimmers (Notonectidae)...
