i have a curry leaf plant which is not even one year old. It was doing well, it went dormant (did not produce leaves at all) since its winter and thats what curry leaves plants do in winter. and all of a sudden yesterday till today, all the leaves and petioles went dry and fell off except for one petiole. The stem is still very green and fresh despite being this way for two days. Is this a stage of dormancy or is the plant dying? I've heard of curry leaves plants with hard wood branches dropping all its leaves like a deciduous tree and bouncing back, but I've never seen a fully immature tree doing this.

Curry Leaves Plant Dropping Leaves Except For One Stem...
Your plant might experience a dormancy called consequential dormancy, but it doesn't have the genetic coding for predictive dormancy - such as when plants enter dormancy as a survival technique in temperate zones. If you consider only the odds, the best money would bet on the cause being a drought response due to over-watering, but it's possible that exposure to sudden chill or cold drafts could cause the leaf loss, as might a sudden reduction in light levels or duration of exposure to light. I think the appearance of the soil adds a measure of weight to the idea a soggy soil and the drought response it causes is to blame.
