Okay, I know you guys are great at the growing trees, pines, bushes, etc. Are any of you taking the information to the timber aspects of those selfsame woods? Not that I can supply pictures for a week or so til I get home, but my grandfather made furniture from timber he found in the railroad cars where he worked. I recognize pinewood, but this wood was dated when he crafted these as 1953, and several years close to this. As pine it has dark reddish close wood color, with only a bit of lighter softer wood. Not the yellow pine I am accustomed to. My memory tells me age hasn't darkened it all that much, but when I can get pictures, do any have that ability to recognize the different raw wood characteristics? Just asking.
query for the querulous
Someone might recognize the wood, but you might have more luck posting your photos on the Woodworking Forum.
