What creature made these?

Valla NSW, Australia

3 tubular neat stacks of tiny clay that have been pushed up one by one from under the ground..by what clever little critter?? For what purpose? The tallest is about an inch tall? They are under my deck. Mid north coast NSW Australia. Mid summer.

Looks like dung beetles. Australia has an interesting relationship with them.

Richmond, TX

If the area is normally damp, I would suspect crayfish.

Interesting. Etouffee at the doorstep.

Minot, ND

You really need to catch the architect in action - similar structures can be made by cicada nymphs, ants, and termites, among others...
