2015 Year List

Pueblo, CO(Zone 5b)

The birds I listed are all found here in the summer, but yes, the birds here are getting restless and moving around a lot. The early migrants are probably moving out now.

(Zone 5a)

162. Broad-winged Hawk, 12 September
163. Orange-crowned Warbler, 9 October
164. Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 10 October

(Zone 5a)

165. Brown Creeper, 15 October

I had no idea we didn't get this one earlier. It was not shy at all and gave us a good look in our yard today.

South Hamilton, MA

cool Our only birds which manage upside down are the white breasted nuthatches.

166. Fox Sparrow

Pueblo, CO(Zone 5b)

It doesn't seem like I have done much bird-watching or seen many birds, but I amazed myself by exceeding last year's count of 101. September & October birds:
102 Wild Turkey
103 Sandhill Crane
104 Rufous Hummingbird
105 Hairy Woodpecker
106 Bushtit
107 Yellow-headed Blackbird

(Zone 5a)

Congratulations, pollengarden!

We are about 20 behind from last year. It was bound to happen sometime, since the last three years each list surpassed the year before.

South Hamilton, MA

My little 50 was ahead of last year, but it was helped by a trip to the west coast.

(Zone 5a)

167. LeConte's Sparrow in my prairie patch.

Pueblo, CO(Zone 5b)

November Birds:
108 Gadwall
109 Greater Roadrunner (thanks to my daughters sharp eyes - I hadn't seen one around here in over 10 years)
110 Song Sparrow
But I am still missing some common easy ones including Black-capped Chickadee

(Zone 5a)

Neat birds! I'll have to travel if I ever want to see a Greater Roadrunner.

168. Wilson's Snipe, 8 November
169. Common Loon, 14 November
170. Red-breasted Nuthatch, 14 November

Though not countable, last week I saw what I believe was a Pink-sided Junco. I had wondered before if we had them, but this bird really leaped out at me. It was neither the Oregon or Slate-colored race that we commonly have.

Pueblo, CO(Zone 5b)

December birds part 1 (in case I don't get any more this year)
111 Green-winged Teal
112 Ring-necked Duck
113 Common Goldeneye
114 Hooded Merganser
115 Ferruginous Hawk
116 Bewick's Wren

(Zone 5a)

Those are some nice birds, pollengarden. The year is winding down, so I do not think I'll get any new birds. There was a Snowy Owl spotted in our county, but not sure I want to find it. The last time we tried, we got hit by a deer.

Pueblo, CO(Zone 5b)

New Year's eve, on vacation in California:
117 Anna's Hummingbird (Hummingbirds on New Year's eve, what a treat!)
118 Ruddy Duck
And I'm off to start 2016 with a flourish -Happy New Year everyone!

South Hamilton, MA

DH thinks that our reddish feathered bird on the tube feeder is a red poll rather than a purple finch which usually arrive. He has much better field glasses than I use as they are a bit heavy for me to hold.
