CLOSED: CLOSED: Interesting camouflage spider

Hervey Bay, Australia

I found a seemingly invisible spider in my front yard recently, and was wondering what specific species it might belong to. I've done some research of my own and am leaning towards deeming it a knobbly crab spider, which has a similar look. However, I would be grateful if someone would confirm or prove my theory wrong.

Thanks!

Looks like one of the so-called 'wrap around' spiders in the genus Dolophanes (family Araneidae)

Camouflage is right! I don't know how you ever saw it to begin with.

Flapdoodle, I visited the site that you recommended, and I agree, it looks very similar. However, if you look carefully on the picture that I posted, you will notice a strange hump that sticks out quite far on its back. When I looked at the spider pictures on the other site, I couldn't see it. Could this just be a difference in species of Dolophones?

Here's a picture to show you what I'm talking about.

Could this be a difference in species, or maybe a gender difference?

Apparently, a reply I made a few days ago somehow failed to post. I stated there that there are several species in this genus, some of which sport a very pronounce 'hump' and may be referred to as turret spiders.

Ok, thanks!
