I've been overrun by these little guys. My cat loves to play with them, but we have no idea what they are! It's winter in Canada so I'm confused as to why they have decided to make an appearance. Can anyone help me identify what they are, and are they harmless?

A terrestrial crustacean in the order Isopoda, Known variously as sowbugs, pillbugs, roly polys, etc,, They are harmless scavengers on decomposing organic matter.
