Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question but I have a question of my own. How did you get the cactus to grow? I have what appears to be the same one and mine has not grown at all since I bought it, which was over a year ago.

How long have you had the plant? Is the thing dry and papery? Some have fake flowers glued on.

Bud looks real. The kind they glue on are not usually black like that. :) The bud may turn into a flower but it may just as well not. They seem to like lots of sun to flower a lot, so maybe an indoor plant will just drop its bud and try again next year.
