This might be an easy identification, or perhaps not. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to most insects. Despite seeing grasshoppers which resemble this my whole life, I've never bothered learning what type this might be. Looking at UBC's list of Orthoptera in British Columbia didn't help me identify it. So, here I am. I'm not sure if the video is sufficient to make an identification. Even a narrowing down to possibilities would be appreciated! Thanks!

Can you provide a still photo of the critter, as I can only get your video to play for a second or two on my computer. From what little I saw, it resembled a short-horned grasshopper (family Acrididae) in the genus Melanopus...
I cannot be 100% certain but to me, it resembles a male Melanoplus bivittatus -
