Snow in Seattle

Lake Stevens, WA(Zone 8a)

Here in Seattle some years we have no snow at all. So nice to wake up to several inches today.
Here are a few trees:

#1 yes we have palms here- I think this is Trachycarpus fortunei
#2 my neighbors big tree not sure what this one is. Someday I will sneak up and steal a twig.
#3 my little Pinus densiflora Japanese Red Pine can finally stay upright when it snows
#4 but this ancient Ceanothus is bowed to the ground
#5 Snowus manimus

A few inches of snow makes such pretty sights! That fifth 'specimen ' is very cute. I hope this won't hurt anything?

There's something disorienting about snow on palms. It looks like the snow we get in April -- wet and heavy. S. manimus is is a nice specimen, but looks like it may be a not-so-gradual state of decline. ;)

At the risk of sounding like an echo of a previous post . . . Deodar Cedar Cedrus deodara

Sure looks like a few slices of heaven to me, even with the snow! Little known fact about Snowus manimus; it's edible.

No wonder I like it-I have always admired these trees. So cool to be able to know what it is by the silhouette.

When I was a kid in Ohio, at school we would make "snow cream" in the winter.
Recipe:
some snow
can of Sweetened Condensed Milk
vanilla
mix
Eat.

If a teacher tried that now (s)he would be arrested for child endangerment, and be fired.

MLM, school "snow cream" would have also peeved Michelle Obama.

We should invite her over for "snow cream".

I'll bring the sweetened condensed milk, lol.
