Lovely drive on Sunday. I always drive by this little micro-park in Sedro-Wooley, WA. This time I pulled in and looked at the slice of tree on display. The last picture is just a pretty scene-that is Mount Baker peaking out. It has glaciers so it looks like this all year.
This was a nice big tree
Nice! I find tree rings such as this interesting and makes it all too clear how short our time frame is. There's a Coast Redwood tree ring at a museum in Fort Bragg, CA, that was roughly 1800 years old when it was cut down and more than 1300 years old when Columbus landed in America. It does tend to put things in perspective.
I was just thinking about the fact that I often refer to 25 to 50 year old Redwoods as "Young" redwoods. Hmmm I need a new word... Perspective...
"sapling", no wait, the word is "sprout".
That ought to work :-)
