I should probably know what this is, but it wasn't labeled and I couldn't ID it while visiting old man Bartram's garden.
Tree ID
Paper Mulberry
Resin
Thank you, Resin. Has Broussonetia replaced Morus as the scientific name?
I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I had never heard of Broussonetia before doing a search of Paper Mulberry.
I have a golden-leaf variety of broussonetia ('Golden Shadows', I think) which contrasts nicely with an adjacent red-leafed JM. It has quite distinctive markings on it's trunk. It wants to spread, so I have to be vigilant or I'd have a forest. It's supposed to be just borderline hardy here, but mine has had no problems over many years. I'm sure it's not hardy for you.
