State Park Tree

This one had a fence around it at the entrance to a MA state park. maybe it's important. Is it perhaps a type of Hawthorne?

Too tired to go looking up what the choices may be for MA, but definitely a Hawthorn (Crataegus sp.).

Finally got around to trying to figure this one out:

Is this perhaps a Washington Hawthorn? I'm taking my best guess...

I think you are probably right. A shot of the fruit would likely confirm that ID.
