I recently was given some smaller palo verde trees. I planted them in my yard, but it looks like the end branches are turning gray and dying? all the small leaves have dried up and fallen off; is this a goner, or can I prune it back to the green area to get it going again? I watered it every other day deeply to get the roots established, but worried I may lose it altogether...what can I do?
Palo Verde dying?
Every other day? Were you using an automatic watering system? How small are these plants? If you were using an automatic watering system, how long is it set to be on per occurrence and how many gallons per hour is it watering? I'm going to guess right now that it got too much water. These are plants that are very popular in your area because of their independence. I'd be interested to hear your response to the questions I posed.
