I had to see what this was by snapping from my Ipod. This was taken in the North End of Boston yesterday. Love the seed packets hanging lower than the branches.

Despite that (and no pic of the WHOLE TREE), you've discovered a Japanese Scholar Tree/Japanese Pagoda Tree - Styphnolobium japonicum (syn. Sophora japonica).
Glad to see you back here.
When you are next traipsing around Martha's Vineyard, look for the massive specimen of this species on one of the main drags in Edgartown.
