I live in East Cheshire and I saw this big spider (size of my palm) crawl up on the wall in the evening.
As we have a toddler, we need to know if this species bites, and if so, is that poisonous?
Also, could there be a nest that we need to be worried about?
Which Spider is this? Is it poisonous??
This appears to be a male giant house spider (Eratigena atrica). Although like the vast majority of spiders it has venom glands and thus technically is venomous, it is not at all dangerous to humans - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_house_spider
