There is more than one possibility, including it not being a maggot. Approximately what size is it, and was it moving when you saw it? If it was moving, did it appear to change in shape when it moved (such as the 'head' end elongating Clearer, larger images also would be helpful...

It moved in a caterpillar like motion.About 6mm long.It seems to be a cross between a caterpillar and a maggot.there did seem to be pads under its body to move it around.

And those peculiar patterns either side of its body. Also a bit of a red line near the head.

Sorry thats all i have images wise.I don't mean to sound ignorant, but did you enlarge the image ?,i found it reasonably clear.

Thanks for the reply.

Your images would enlarge, but seemed 'washed out' to me. That aside, the two prime suspects are (1) larva (maggot) of a fly in the family Syrphidae - see https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5516/14458184826_ef94818717_m.jpg for an example, and (2) larva (caterpillar) of a butterfly in the family Lycaenidae - see http://www.ukbutterflies.co.uk/genus.php?name=Lycaena for an example. If it is a syrphid larva, the front end should elongate and become narrower when it starts to move.
