I live in Cyprus in the Mediterranean, and I found this rather large chap hanging in its web on a Lemon Tree in the garden. It appeared to be alone.
Any idea of what it might be, and is it dangerous, as I would like to find out more about it? Might even make him/her a friend. :-)

Make her a friend. A harmless orb weaver. I don't know the species. Our resident experts will be able to give you that.
It's an Argiope sp.; maybe A. lobata...
