Fall, a time to reflect

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Happy New Year to all of you! I pray it is a prosperous and blessed time for each of you and your families.

We have been terribly lazy today. We had watch night service at church last night. Everybody brought something to add to the soup pot and we put it to cook before service started at nine. We had singing, testimonies, communion and preaching and after service was over at twelve we all ate together. It was very good and a good time also. Everybody brought soup home with them and we had some for lunch today. Mmm

What fun and fellowship! I've never heard of pot luck soup. Fantastic idea.

Years ago my dad's church had what they called Mulligan stew in the fall. They held it at the fairgrounds, the church had a lunch stand there. They cooked the stew in the big iron kettles.
People donated whatever to it & it cooked from Saturday morning until after church on Sunday morning. They sold it, so much a scoop.
We took it home for our Sunday dinner. They was nothing ever like it.

I started a thread for 2015. Happy New year!
