My husband was down at the river today and when he got home, this was on his shirt. He's very careful about ticks so he strips in the backyard before he comes inside the house. Could this be a nymph of a tick? Are they dangerous at this stage? In the top view, you can see it has eight legs...for whatever reason, the belly shot, it looks like it only has six. This thing has long "fangs" at its mouth....It seems like it has dirt stuck to the hairs on the back...or is this something else??? Thanks!
CLOSED: CLOSED: Is this a tick???
I forgot to say, it is about 2mm in length.
This is a larva of a lacewing, a very beneficial predator on aphids, small caterpillars, etc. - They occasionally will 'sample' human skin if they find themselves on it, but their bite causes no harm.
Great, thank you!
