I had greek yogurt lying in the refrigerater for a week and I noticed a pink layer formed on it. Where can I read more about what this bacteria is and how it forms?
I'm curious can it be composted does it have any re-use?
CLOSED: What is this Bacteria called?
Really not sure whether this growth is bacterial or fungal (I lean more to it being fungal in origin). That aside, I do not see any forums on Davesgarden where you would likely be able to get a definitive answer..
I think pink yuk is called Gibberella zeae. When it shows up on plants (corn) it is called Gibberella fusarium. perhaps this link will be of use. From what I understand there is a whole group of the pink/orange bacteria and mold.
You will have to manually enter the link as they are at this time not working
