I have been finding a lot of grasshoppers recently, and I was just wondering if they were the same species?
The second and last pictures are of the larger one I have (too big for the camera I have to take a full body picture), the third one is the size difference between the 2 (managed to get the smaller one in just under the abdomen of the larger. I think the fist guy (smaller) is a nymph (judging by size) and unfortunately I still do not know IDing beyond adult so any help would be very helpful
CLOSED: Grasshopper help
These are short-horned grasshoppers (family Acrididae) and the first one is a nymph, but beyond that I can't tell much because of their condition and the fact that I cannot see the entire adult specimen. You might try seeing if you can locate a copy of The Insect Families of British Columbia - http://ibis.geog.ubc.ca/biodiversity/efauna/OrthopteraofBC.html
Thank you so much, I'll definitely look at that, sounds handy :)
