Need help identifying this....roach?

Culver City, CA

Hi all,

I found this critter in my house last night - looks a little like an Oriental cockroach, but it has bands on its back and is not as shiny as a typical Oriental roach. Also, I am in the (very hot) valley in Southern California so I am not sure if they do live out here.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

To me at least, this looks more like an Oriental cockroach than any other cockroach species likely to be found in your area - they are very resourceful critters, after all...

You'll want to get rid of any roaches. They carry a lot of diseases. This infographic is helpful, and disturbing! www.bughobby.com/can_roaches_hurt_you.pdf
