Viburnum pollination

Eau Claire, WI(Zone 4a)

Are you trying to tell us there's nothing to it?

Hamilton, OH(Zone 6a)

Yikes!!!! My apology. I thought I had posted the message below:

In another thread Sequoiadendron4 mentioned cross pollination of Viburnums. I have a couple of questions about that topic.

First, I have the following Viburnums:
V. juddii
V. plicatum Var. Tomentosum ‘Shasta’
V. plicatum Var. Tomentosum ‘Shoshoni’
V. setigerum
V. trilobum

What Viburnums could I add to increase berry production?

Second, how close do Viburnums have to be for cross pollination to occur? My Shasta and Shoshoni are planted about two hundred feet from one another.

Oh, you've gone and let Pandora out of the box...

Your 'Shasta' and 'Shoshoni' are good partners, and two hundred feet is nothing for pollinating insects to fly around in.

Your Judd needs another early fragrant blooming type, something like one of the V. carlesii crowd will be fine. 'Cayuga' is even better.

Your Tea Viburnum needs another one like it; you usually can only find propagules of seedlings anyway, as there are few clones. If you like orange, look for Viburnum setigerum 'Aurantiacum'.

Your American Cranberrybush Viburnum needs another like it - of which there are many named clones.

Key with cross-pollination is parentage and overlapping bloom times.

Lol...Pseudo! I'm going to sit and listen to the excellent Viburnum discussion :)
