CLOSED: CLOSED: Please help identify

Largo, FL

These were found in our pool floating in clusters. There were about 4 clusters in all and they appeared to be dead. My husband picked up one of the clusters with a paper towel and found them to be alive. Can anyone identify these for me?

Appear to be ants, but unsure of species. Some ants appear to have the ability to form living 'rafts' in water...

That was my initial thought also, however, there is no ant trails or any ants anywhere on the lanai or outside the lanai. I have tried to enlarge a portion of the photo.

With geniculate (elbowed) antennae, these certainly do appear to be ants. See http://www.backedbybayer.com/system/product_guide/asset_file/3/Ant-ID-Guide.pdf and http://flrec.ifas.ufl.edu/entomo/ants/Pest%20Ants%20of%20Fl/ for identification assistance...
