Your Neck Of the Woods part 12 Dog Daze
It looks like everyone had a really great time! I like that picture of Josh drilling into a bouquet of flowers : - )
Lovely pictures, Holly!
It looks like everyone had a wonderful time. :)
wonderful way to do a wedding! I'm all for that!
Thanks for letting us SHARE in the celebration. Wonderful!!!!!
Holly, it sure does look like it was a great time. Congratulations to the happy couple. That last picture is wonderful.
Wonderful! I love the bare feet.
BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Does anybody share my enchantment with these fiddlehead stakes from Kinsman? I'm getting 1 set for me, for my MIL, and for my mom... that brings the price to $13 for a set, and Kinsman is doing free shipping today (code is KCTREAT). If you want just 1 set, I can order them & get them to you at the seed swap or before.

Jill, I'm not interested in any but I sure do like them, so cute.
We actually ran out of candy! This has never happened before. But it was partly because my husband was letting the trick or treaters grab huge handfuls of candy.
I was giving away big handfuls... A lot of kids just go to the townhouses or apartments in our development... we just don't get much action on the side streets. I try to make it worth their while, and not just with multiple pieces. This year, I had gummie tarantulas, plastic "jumping" spiders, and spider ring pops in addition to assorted chocolates. Last year, it was chocolate eyeballs and mummy suckers.
Somebody said Joyanna was letting me enjoy a second childhood... they don't realize I never stopped enjoying "childish" fun LOL. It's not like they take away your license to be silly when you reach a certain age.
Speaking of silly, did you know you can make really great "slime" from Elmer's glue, warm water, and a little Borax?
Holly, those fiddlehead shapes are just cool, aren't they? I didn't get back online to order before midnight when the freeship coupon expired. But I'll keep my eye out for another sale offer from Kinsman. I also considered that they might be fairly easy to imitate using copper tubing... another idea on my endless list is to get some copper tubing from the plumbing dept. and experiment making various plant supports, like for amaryllises... maybe see what alternative materials are available, too, given the rising price of copper.
Hi everybody! Critter was right! I been slaving away at my workbench all this time. Can't thank her & Jim for putting up with us or putting us up, take your pick. Since that happened, we have done two more shows & I can feel my age catching up with me as it takes me 2 whole days to get over it. Here are some pix I took at the last show:
Hi Buttoneer! Very nice! The rings look like antique coins.
Jill, my wife and I haven't grown out of our childhood goofiness yet. Me more so than her....
The rings are made with 200 year old buttons. Ask Critter. ;-)
Yes! Of course, I have the most beautiful one... ;-)
I need to put on all 3 of my "Showers of Buttons" rings and get a photo -- 2 german buttons, 1 black glass & 1 of those metal ones, and also a very cool trilobite fossil! It's just that I have "garden hands/nails" at present, LOL
So surprised there isn't a big clamour to make slime at our next get-together! *snort*
Ooh, and we can make Playdough too!
Yep, and "putty," which is a less gross version of slime.
For anybody tempted to make old-fashioned salt dough ornaments... thecinnamon & applesauce version smells much better.
My dad made a turkey dinner this past Sunday and did a great cranberry relish thing... He started by making that fresh cranberry relish where you grind up 12 oz cranberries, 1 whole orange (including peel but minus any seeds), and 1 c. sugar. Then he turned it into a "salad" by adding a can of crushed pineapple with its juice and a big package of cherry jello. He probably added a cup of hot water to the jello mix, too, before stirring in the rest. YUMMY but more work than the version I used to do when I discovered that you could add canned cranberry relish to hot raspberry hello -- the cranberry "melts" into the jello and then re-congeals as the jello sets. Diced apple, pineapple, etc. are good additions. Dad made his in a flat pan, but I like to break out my "real" tupperware jello mold every so often. LOL
And I taught my oldest niece to make gravy. :-)
We missed Halloween pretty much all together. Didn't get any of the decorations out this year, just too much going on and we don't get any children here at the house anymore. Most fun is going to Josh's house where they get a lot of kids, we hang out on the porch talk to everyone that comes by. Courtney puts on a nice feed, sip some hot wine and really enjoy ourselves. But we flew out that morning so we missed all the festivities this year.
We are home and I must say that we had a great time in Mexico. It's been quite a while since just the two of us took a trip together and it was really really nice. We did lots of really fun things had a great time kicking back. Must say that my favorite activity was going SCUBA Diving in a centoes. This is cavern diving not cave diving. It was very interesting and exciting and as close as I will ever get to cave diving. I found this UTube video someone made of the Chac Mool Kukulkan dive site where I was diving. This isn't me but if you have a few minutes you can watch the video and see what I did and get a feel for what it was like.

That looks like a great diving adventure! I'm with you; I would really want to see those rays of sunlight streaming down. I would be afraid of getting lost if I were diving in a dark cave.
No actual Cave Diving for me. Very dangerous, need lots of specialized equipment and serious training. But this Cavern Diving in the Centoes was the closest thing I will ever come to it. Went thru some very dark passage areas very neat
Holy--
That you-tube clip was mesmerizing! SO beautiful!
And--I just loved the music accompanying it---VERY mystical and eerie.
SO--you actually went where they showed in the video? You are very brave!
BUT--I realize you have been doing this most of your life..
And--what a life that must have been... ♥ ♥ ♥
Thanks Gita, It really was something to see. One of our divers had trouble on the second dive an pulled out right at the start. She didn't enjoy the first dive near as much as I did and as soon as she hit the halocline (where the blurry mix of fresh and saltwater mix) she panicked and the dive master took her up. She is a much newer diver than I am and had never been night diving either, which I have done quite a bit of. So when she found herself in a dark narrow space with limited visibility she didn't really like it. Got a nice complement from the Dive Master on my diving skills.
yay Fearless Holly!
What part of Mexico? So confusing with areas you've heard about for years VS areas more newly developed and swankier/pricier...
We are in NJ for the weekend (Hi Jan!!!!) the company paid for Mark and a dozen others and some spouses to come to a football game and sit in a fancy box. Several of us have never gone to a football game before and barely even watch them, but for free stay, food and beverages, why be particular LOL?
Mark flew us, then the compact car we rented was not available so free upgrade to this. Sirius radio, huge seats...weekend rental rate ten bucks a day..WOOT!
Photo next post, the USB connection thing isn't seeming to cooperate. I have to upload from phone. More of technology making life easier!
Well, for now, use your imagination Mark looking happy posed by big white Dodge Ram pickup!
Oh, HI!!! Sorry I missed you when you flew by. I know you had a great day. Always nice when things are already paid for. WHEEEE!!!!!
Sally, Sounds like a great weekend. Such fun, free stuff and Mark flying you up.
We were near Playa del Carmen, flew into the Cancun Airport.
Does Mark have a pilot's license?
I hope you had a fabulous weekend!
Muddy, Nope he just flapped his arms really hard and Sally sat on his back. LOL
Ha ha!! I guess he does have a license, then. I wasn't sure whether Sally meant that he paid for their flights or actually flew them. When I say I'm going to "fly my daughter out here", for example, I just mean that I'm paying for her ticket.
haha Holly-- yes Muddy, private pilot and half owner of a four seater with retractible gear. He loves flying. It was an hour in the air instead of three+ on the ground.
Boy, that Metlife stadium- ugly outside but nice inside! Suite comes with plenty of drinks and nice hot food, chips, nachos, popcorn and great view
Awesome Sally! Glad you had a good time!
Sorry Muddy, Just couldn't help myself. LOL
Sally, Getting to see how the other half live. Pretty swanky. Such a nice thing for the company to do.
Loved the video, Holly.
Sally, which airport did you land in?
Essex County in Caldwell? PLEASE don't say you live next door and we could have visited, I'd be sorry to miss that!
Between there and Meadowlands (yeah sure, it's SWAMPlands, lookit all the acres of phragmites reed!!!!) was solid suburban sprawl. We thought about stopping for a quick look at this
http://nj.gov/dep/njnlt/greatpiecemeadows.htm
but I read a funny review of it online - to sum up: It's a swamp, and the powers that be seem to deliberately keep it unfriendly to visiting LOL.
