CLOSED: Spider ID

Dickinson, TX

Hi enclosed is a pic of a spider I just found making a web
right at the head of my bed, and my head would have been in his web.
Thank god I saw him, trapped him and took some pictures.
I already let him go, cause I don't believe in killing anything even insects
sooooo hopefully he doesn't come back lol
anyway does anyone know what kind of spider he might be,
I looked everywhere and am really baffled.
Oh btw I am in Houston, Tx if that helps....
It was about a half dollar all opened up, but when he was cramped together about a quarter in size...
THANKS TO ALL....

It is some sort of orb weaver but don't know what kind. They are usually not poisonous.

It's an orb weaver in the genus Eriophora -

Cool thanks so much,
looked where I put him last night and there he was with this massive web
kinda where a street light is and there he was right in the middle.
I looked up and learned a lot about the orb weavers, amazing little
creatures, so glad I didn't kill it...
went out this morning to see, like man is still gonna be out there
with that web and thinking someone else will probably see him
(rv park), but the whole thing was gone, then I read where they
will make a whole new web each night. That really is amazing, cause
this web took on atleast 2 trees that were 50 yards apart and the street light
itself, I mean for him to do this he had to climb both trees walk out to the end
and jump from the leaves down, and those were just the supporting way off
webs, his main web was 10 yards from the end of the far branches, AMAZING THANKS Again

It is amazing that they can do that. I had an orb weaver once make a web between my house and my neighbors. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I think they must jettison themselves from one place to the next with their silk.
