hippeastrum

Southampton , United Kingdom

Hi I'm new to growing hippeastrum, I recently bought this plant and now looking at the forums I believe it's an indoor plant, my first question is has this flowered already? 2nd question is should I cut this back? If so how far

Spring and summer plant, my crinum amaryllis are always outside. Zone 8 Houston, Texas area has sandy soil, hi humidity and they are used to keep the ditches held. Never trim the straps or you could damage and stunt the flower and plant. The few 30° F days we get freeze the straps back and they go dormant til the temps are abt 50° and the straps again begin growing. The bulb - ,like an onion- only needs 1/3 of the bottom in ground. Not sure which type you have as there are also hymenocallis types. Where summers are short they are an easy indoor flower as well,
