but here I am, after three years with not much. I planted 4 different thornless varieties that are supposed to do well in my z9a, in properly amended soil.
Last year was the best year with a little bit of fruit but deer helped themselves to them. Demoralized, I didn't water them as religiously as in previous years but I have kept them trimmed and weed free. So, WHAT GIVES?
All I have this year are these little 6" plants.
Plant has a good healthy color but it sure doesn't look 3 years old. Is it possible that the deer ate the plants down to the ground?
Deer def ate fruit, did not know they would eat foliage too (but then again, don't they eat all)
I had just cleaned dried up vines when I took pic. Like you said, green looks good but I'm puzzled as to why they don't thrive, I was expecting an unmanageable vine by this time. If deer, at least I won't feel as an unfit blackberry Mom, lol
Very annoyed as this is one of they only things spouse has requested, and I can't oblige
