I got this Sinningia "Peridot's Darth Vader" via mail order about a month ago. It actually had two crowns and I divided it. The leaves had a bit of brown at some edges when it arrived, I assumed it was due to shipping stress. They have been in exactly the same conditions as my AVs, same soil, same light, right next to the AV's on the same shelf! The AV's are doing great. The browning on the Sinningia leaves has gotten worse, and the leaves are starting to curl under a bit.
In the pics that I am posting everything does look wet, because I did just water (I do this weekly for them and the AVs), and the potting mix I use is very black, so they are not as soggy as they might look. And as I said, they get exactly the same conditions as the AV's. I have seen no bugs in the room except a few gnats.
I read somewhere that too dry air may cause this. I also got the the Sinningia after reading their care was identical to AV's, figuring it would be easy since my AV's are thriving. Any ideas as to what I need to do here? The soil felt the same amount of "dry" as the AV's before watering and the pots are identical (so same drainage). Any ideas are appreciated!
