jomoncon,
thanks for your pictures
I have about double of the size amount of plants that you have one the first picture.
I guess I will wait a little longer ... It is sad to believe that I planted more seeds than the one I harvested ... sight !
I don't think I will plant again these cowpeas. I did plant them at the same time of my Long Beans, and these are no stop producing even in these heat !
Thanks for y'all help
Going to harvest now !
Yesterday was 101 F !!!!
Summer Gardens 2014, Part 3
So, educate me here, ladies....
Too much heat is not such a good thing, huh? And, even the heat-lovers have a limit?
Ok. Got it!
Thanks!
I think I am at the end of my summer harvests.
Okra is slowing down and it is full of aphids. The pods are getting a little harder, looking like they just want to make seeds.
Long beans are an amazing crop and very rewarding. We are eating them every day and for the first time I have so much that I was able to blanch and freeze them.
I have so much food in my freezer from the summer harvests ... that I might not need to grow anything in the fall/winter !
Horrible looking eggplants. I did remove almost all the ugly leaves on them ... I hope they will produce more and better looking fruits.
Happy gardening !
drthor, Aren't long beans wonderful! So prolific once they get going. I had so many left in the freezer from last year that I started giving them away, nicely packed & frozen in vacuum bags. My friends thought I was a gift from heaven. I have a few friends who are going through some tough times and the extra meals were appreciated. Also gave away a lot of field peas, cucumbers & tomatoes.
The first year I grew a big garden, DH asked me to grow cucumbers. I'm not that fond of cucumbers, but he wanted to grow a lot. When they started getting ripe, I told him to go get some for his dinner. He said he doesn't like cucumbers, but he likes to grow them since they grow so fast. All the neighbors had lots & lots of cucumbers!!

LOLOL!
Uh, hold onto a bag of peas for me, girl!
Hahah I think my dh might gotten the stink eye! Hoping for more tomatoes and peppers this week. Other than that, I pulled all the dill and sqaush family.

you are right! Those Long Beans are just amazing ! and so rewarding, plus the largest bumble bees love them so much and they are always buzzing around.
The plants are slowing down but still producing, so I will keep them a little longer.
Broccoli transplants are going out tomorrow (=flower day).
these look "sweeet"
Congrats
