Hello everyone,
I've come to this forum in hopes someone might be able to identify this insect for me. I found several of these bugs around the house. One on my laptop, one of my my folder, and one of the paper towel in the kitchen. When I have found them, they are "playing dead." I did also see one on my dog, so I initially thought this was a flea, but from inspection it looks like it has a dome shaped dorsal side with short legs--no sign of hind legs. Also, I have it in a ziploc bag and when turned over, it has a hard time flipping upright. Not sure what it could be, but I hope someone will be able to ID this critter.
South Texas insect
It's a tiny beetle; it's overall shape is consistent with it possibly being a pantry pest like cigarette or drugstore beetles - http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/urban/stored/drugstore_beetle.htm
