Help ID-ing what might have made these

Victoria, Canada

I am on a little vacation, and while in the wooded part of where I am staying, I found these gall like things on the leaves. I was just wondering what might have made them. I am thinking an insect, which is why I am posting on the bugID bit. I haven't cut any open yet since I am not sure what (if anything) might come out.

Any help would really be appreciated. This is in Calgary Alberta if that helps

Thank you very much

I'll post pictures when I can

Here we go, I wasn't getting the option to add pictures to the original post

The third one kinda looks like a spider nest but I found them on more than a couple of plants. If it is I would be interested in what kind it might be (if it can be told by looks)

All but the middle image are indeed galls, which as you likely already know can be caused by many different arthropods, including wasps, flies, phylloxerans, mites, etc. See https://insects.tamu.edu/extension/publications/epubs/e-397.cfm
The middle image is he protective cover of a nymph of a froghopper (spittlebug) - http://gardening.about.com/od/insectpestid/a/Spittlebugs.htm
