I dearly love lily of the valley, and really want to plant some in my shade garden, but I know...I know...they're such little monsters. Has anyone found a successful method of containment? I don't have a spot to just let them run free, and don't want them to choke off my other plants, or my neighbor's! I've seen some in-ground "pot in a pot" plantings shown online - would this maybe work? To clarify, a pot is mostly buried in the ground and a second pot containing plants is just dropped in. It's geared at easy swapping out of annuals, but might this keep invasive little guys in check? I'd love some opinions!
Containing Lily of the Valley???
As I started reading your thread, I was going to suggest planting a pot in the ground but you've taught me something as I never thought of planting a pot in a pot. What a great idea :) I think you're on the right track!
The only thing is that those roots can go way down. If you try it, pull the top pot up sometimes and check if the root is snaking down the drain holes.
